Title just says it: When I disable video from VDJ settings, I still should be able to search and play video files, but only as audio. Now all video files disappears from database if I disable video.
Sometimes I got regular DJ gigs (no videos allowed to play on the club, they dont have licence to show videos or not interested in them). Still most of my tracks are only video (There is no reason to have mp3 if you have video of the same track with same audio quality).
So if I want to play certain track which I have only as video file, I must enable the video even it is not displayed anywhere.
Then if someone sees my laptop screen they ask stupid things like:
"You have videos?"
"You should not play videos here, we dont have licences" (from club owner who sees my laptop screen) or
"can you show the videos on the wall?" (from customer who sees laptop screen and dont know about licence stuff)
Also, videos stresses CPU and heats the laptop without reason.
So, If I disable video, I should be able to play video files just as audio files. That is my point!

as time goes on, more of my "songs" are videos.. not an issue for my Rackmount system of course, but my backup is an older laptop..
Its getting to the point that if I ever have to use the laptop for a backup (knock on wood), I would lose a large portion of the songs I might need to use..
so now I'm starting to think I will have to upgrade my backup system, just so I can play videos..
anyone know of good software that converts a .vob or .mpeg file to MP3 ? and can do it in batches?

This already works.
If you disable "Activate on Load" in the video options then the video system will not automatically activate. Video files will then just play the audio portion.

Thanks! It works when activate video is also unchecked. I think this topic could be marked as solved :)

I'm a noob...
never thought to try it.. LOL
my rackmount handles videos with ease, so even when I dont have the projector connected up, I still let the videos run normally.

don't worry about it it's all about getting to know your system, hope you have more pleasant surprises in the future.
but don't forget the manual and the wiki section you'll find them of great help.
